Most of the public buildings in San Jose that deserve visiting are in the city centre, at the intersection of Avenida Central and Calle Central. For instance, Teatro Nacional, on Calle 3, has marble staircases, statues and is decorated with Venetian mirrors. Plaza de la Cultura is just nearby, on Calle 3-5, there are many live concerts here. Also, don't miss the Melico Salazar theater and the cathedral.
